Artist-in-Residence

Bradford Brenner

August 1 – 31, 2026

Bradford Brenner paints the way weather moves — loose, layered, unhurried. Thirty-seven years into the work, and a short walk from us on the Healdsburg Plaza, he builds a canvas in wet, spontaneous passes: florals that lean toward abstraction, landscapes that carry more feeling than detail. The Old Masters, the Impressionists, the Tonalists, the Abstract Expressionists are all in there somewhere, folded into something unmistakably his own.

“Art, at its core, is a shared feeling,” he says. That is the invitation this August — not to study a painting from a polite distance, but to stand close enough to feel what the artist felt when he made it.
