A Wine Country Wedding: Christina & Dakota
Some couples find the perfect wedding venue after months of searching. Christina and Dakota found theirs before it even existed.
"We put our hard hats on and decided on Appellation Healdsburg before it was even built," Christina recalls. "We saw the vision." That early leap of faith set the tone for a wedding weekend in Healdsburg, California that was equally intentional — elevated without being formal, polished without losing the warmth that makes Sonoma County wine country feel like home.

An Unconventional Love Story
Christina and Dakota's romance didn't follow a straight line. They met at a college party — while she was technically on a first date with someone else — talked all night, and then didn't speak for nearly three years. It was a friend's Snapchat story that eventually brought them back together, and they've been inseparable ever since.
When it came time to plan their wedding, the couple was drawn to Healdsburg and the sweeping beauty of Northern California's wine country. A longtime family connection made the introduction feel like fate. From that first conversation, the vision was clear.

A Weekend Woven Into the Property
Christina and Dakota chose to stay on property for the entire wedding weekend, a decision that shaped the experience from the moment they arrived.
"Walking into our suite for the first time was one of my favorite memories," Christina says. "It was beautiful, polished, and felt like such a comfortable place to come home to throughout the weekend."
Their celebration culminated on Sunday with a ceremony and reception that ran with the kind of ease that only comes from a well-coordinated team. "The day ran so efficiently, which allowed us to stay present and really enjoy time with our family and friends," she reflects. "We wanted the weekend to feel elevated but relaxed, and it was exactly that."

The Team Behind the Day
No wine country wedding comes together without the right partners. For Christina and Dakota, that meant leaning on a trusted, experienced vendor team:
- Seven Oh Seven Events (Sonoma) — wedding planners who helped bring the full weekend vision to life
- Hair & Makeup by Emi (Healdsburg) — local beauty experts who kept the getting-ready experience seamless
- Alicia T. Photo (Arizona) — their photographer and videographer, who captured every detail
- The Appellation Healdsburg team, who shouldered a significant share of the weekend's logistics — keeping the couple's list of contacts refreshingly lean

The Feel of the Place
Couples considering a Healdsburg wedding venue often ask the same question: what does it actually feel like to be there? For Christina, the answer came easily.
"What stood out most was how the property feels both elevated and welcoming at the same time. It has this upscale wine country barn energy that feels polished but still comfortable and grounded."
The gardens and shared gathering spaces made a particular impression — both on the couple and their guests. "It reminded me a lot of where I grew up," Christina says. "Warm, natural, and centered around people coming together."
That sense of organic community is central to what makes Appellation Healdsburg one of Sonoma County's most sought-after wedding destinations. The property doesn't feel like a venue. It feels like a place.

Food, Wine, and Charlie Palmer
At a property where culinary distinction is the foundation of everything, it's no surprise that food and wine were woven into every moment of Christina and Dakota's celebration.
"Food and wine were at the heart of everything for us," Christina says. "We wanted the entire experience to feel thoughtful and elevated, and it absolutely delivered."
The menu tasting stands out as one of her favorite memories from the planning process — a rare opportunity for couples to sit down with the culinary team, taste through the options, and build a menu that feels genuinely personal. "It was genuinely one of the most fun parts of the process. The food was some of the best we've ever had, and it really set the tone for the entire weekend."
Then there was the moment that surprised even seasoned wine country wedding guests: Chef Charlie Palmer, actively present throughout the celebration — pouring wine, serving plates, engaging with guests as an integral part of the evening rather than a name on a menu. "It added such a unique and memorable touch," Christina says.

A Moody, Romantic Aesthetic
When it came to décor, Christina and Dakota leaned into the natural character of the space. Dark tables, abundant candlelight, and organic textures — gravel, stone, and the architecture of the property itself — created an atmosphere that felt like a candlelit dinner rather than a wedding production.
"We leaned into a darker, moody winter palette, and everything came together in a way that felt cohesive and intentional," she explains. "Even the rain added to the atmosphere and made everything feel even more romantic and cozy. It was exactly the vibe we hoped for."
When a tent was added last-minute to accommodate the weather, it only deepened the sense of warmth and enclosure. "In the end, the rain made the day feel even more memorable and intimate. It added a softness to the celebration that we didn't expect but really loved."

What They'd Tell You
For couples beginning to imagine their own Healdsburg wedding, Christina's advice is practical and heartfelt in equal measure.
Invest in a great team. "Having experienced planners and vendors around you makes the entire process so much smoother and allows you to actually enjoy the planning and the weekend itself," she says. The right partners — both outside vendors and the Appellation team — make the difference between managing a wedding and living inside one.
And embrace the weather. Wine country has its own rhythm, and surrendering to it is part of the experience. "Be prepared for anything," she adds. "Our rainstorm wasn't expected, but it ended up feeling magical and serene in its own way."

In Their Own Words
We asked Christina to finish this sentence: Appellation Healdsburg is the place to get married if you love "…bringing people together over incredible food, memorable wine, and the relaxed beauty of wine country."
